Who is Letizia?

A Legacy of Love, Simplicity & Sweetness

Letizia's Natural Bakery was founded by Letizia Sorano, who moved from Rome, Italy to Chicago to follow her true passion: baking. A former Latin and History teacher, Letizia began creating authentic Italian desserts using only all-natural ingredients—eggs, flour, sugar, and real chocolate. No preservatives, no artificial colors, and no shortcuts—just genuine, homemade taste.

In 1998, she opened her cozy bakery on Division Street in Wicker Park, offering a welcoming space where guests could enjoy handmade pastries and espresso without needing to dress up or fit in—just relax and feel at home.

Her secondhand espresso machine became an unexpected hit. By 2001, Letizia's was voted #1 Coffee House in Chicago by New City Magazine. As guests began asking for more, she expanded the menu with grilled panini, olive oil flatbreads, and Pizza Rustica.

In 2004, Letizia opened Enoteca Roma, an intimate Italian restaurant and wine bar next door, serving handmade pasta and rustic Italian dishes inspired by family recipes.

Today, Letizia's remains a beloved Italian bakery and café in Chicago, serving from-scratch sweets and savory bites with warmth, heart, and a deep respect for tradition.
